Every year, more than 30,000 full-time and part-time students come to George Brown College to obtain an education that will help them succeed in their future careers. Dedicated to producing work-ready graduates, George Brown has earned a reputation for developing in-demand graduates that are exactly what employers are looking for.

George Brown College Foundation

The George Brown College Foundation, established in 1984, is the primary fundraising vehicle for the College. It is an incorporated registered charity and is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors from the corporate and community sectors.

George Brown College is committed to providing the highest possible caliber of education to its students and to making its programs accessible to all. The Foundation helps the College achieve this goal by raising money to support student success through scholarships and bursaries, as well as through larger initiatives that strengthen the College’s ability to offer programs for specific industries and professions.

Partnership with Coca-Cola

In 2015, The Coca-Cola Foundation chose to honour the legacy of Nicola Kettlitz by providing 20 first generation learners at George Brown College with the gift of education.  An investment of $50,000 US helped to break down the financial barriers that can so often keep young people from completing their education and achieving their goals.  This spring, we were honoured to celebrate these 20 young people, it is a huge accomplishment for both the student and their family.

The Coca-Cola Nicola Kettlitz Memorial Award commemorates Nicola Kettlitz, the former President of Coca-Cola Ltd., who passed away in March 2015. Nicola worked with the company for 24 years and had a positive impact on the lives he touched, and was a passionate ambassador for people and communities.

This award was given to full-time students who expressed financial need, demonstrated leadership and community involvement and had a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.  The awards were distributed to 10 students at the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts, 5 students at the Centre for Business and to 5 students at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies.

Each year the George Brown College Awards office receives over 9,000 scholarship applications. And, although the George Brown College Foundation has been able to give out over a million dollars in financial aid thanks to the support of companies like Coca-Cola, only one in four applicants are successful. We’re proud to continue this partnership with the George Brown Foundation and look forward to more students receiving the financial support they need to be successful at school.
