For 120 years, Coca-Cola has been proudly refreshing Canadians from coast to coast. We were the first country Coca-Cola was bottled in outside of the United States and the drink quickly reached a level of popularity here that rivaled some major American cities. So if you’ve been looking for a way to add some Coca-Cola flair to your Canada 150 festivities, you’re in luck! To help celebrate Canada 150 and Coca-Cola’s deep roots in this country, Coca-Cola Canada has three exciting new things to share.
Starting this week, look out for limited edition, commemorative Canada 150 mini cans of Coca-Cola. In keeping with Coca-Cola’s commitment to encourage more convenient packaging sizes, this summer Coca-Cola Canada is launching its first promotion created specifically for 222 mL mini cans. The cans, which feature a red maple leaf and the Canada 150 logo set against the white silhouette of a contour bottle, will make a great addition to your next BBQ or summer get-together. These beauties are only available while supplies last though, so make sure you grab a six-pack while you can (and don’t forget to keep one for your Coca-Cola collection!).
“It’s an exciting time to be in Canada and a privilege to be a part of Canadians’ lives as they celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday!” exclaimed Shane Grant, president of Coca-Cola Ltd. “Coca-Cola has been refreshing Canadians for 120 years. We are deeply proud of our long, rich history in this country and look forward to serving Canadians for another 120 years.”
Starting today you’ll also be seeing our brand new Canada 150 television commercial called “The Great Canadian Chase.” The spot features two Canadians in pursuit of a runaway Coca-Cola that takes them from one side of Canada to the other and features music by a Canadian favourite, Bryan Adams. Take a look at the commercial here!
“From skating rinks and toboggan hills to picnics and BBQs, Canadians have had a love affair with Coca-Cola since it first appeared in Canada over 120 years ago,” said Michael Samoszewski, Vice President, Marketing, Coca-Cola Ltd. “I think this commercial does a great job of celebrating that special and enduring connection”
Finally Coca-Cola Canada is proud to share that a new book: Canada’s Coca-Cola: Refreshing the Nation for 120 Years. This fantastic book tells the story of how Coca-Cola first came to Canada and the indelible impact it has had on the communities it serves. Complete with gorgeous images from the Coca-Cola Archives and intimate stories from the Canadians who helped establish Coca-Cola here in Canada! The book, published in French and English versions, will be available wherever books are sold starting June 20th
