ProAction Cops & Kids and Coca-Cola Canada come together in support of youth development

TORONTO, February 22, 2016 – It might be cold outside but that doesn’t stop youth and police officers from Toronto Police Services’ 33 Division from keeping warm and active by playing together in a soccer program funded by ProAction Cops & Kids.  And now they have some new equipment to complement their skills, thanks to a donation from Coca-Cola Canada including short and long-sleeved jerseys, pants, soccer shoes, soccer balls and water bottles.

“At Coca-Cola Canada, we believe we are only as strong as the communities where we live and work,” said Scott Lindsay, Senior Vice President of Sales and Customer Marketing for        Coca-Cola Refreshments Canada. “We are proud to support ProAction Cops & Kids and the great work it does to develop self-esteem and confidence in youth, as well as help foster more positive relationships between youth and police.”

ProAction Cops & Kids encourages police officers to share their passions with youth and each ProAction program is initiated and organized by officers.  Programming includes a wide range of activities such as sports and camping, arts, leadership, life skills and safety. Many programs include one-on-one mentoring between officers and youth. Participating youth are identified by police officers with the help of community partners including local schools, youth workers and community centres.

“ProAction would not be able to reach thousands of kids each year with life-changing opportunities without the police officers who lead our programs and the generous support of our donors” said Jean Milligan, Executive Director of ProAction Cops & Kids. “On behalf of ProAction Cops & Kids, I would like to thank Coca-Cola for their ongoing support that helps kids access healthy activities under the mentorship of police officers and build relationships that lead to safer and stronger communities.”
