Now that summer is finally over, Quebeckers can enjoy one last long weekend before heading into the hectic holiday season. This is why we thought we would give you a few ideas for activities you can enjoy with friends and family over the Thanksgiving weekend.

La Ronde’s Fright Fest

If you’re spending the weekend in Montreal and you like a good fright, you can visit La Ronde to take part in the Fright Fest! La Ronde offers a day of thrills and activities for the whole family, including shows and animation for the young ones, as well as haunted houses for the strong of heart. But as of 5 pm, when the sun goes down, the big kids can fully enjoy a number of places to really get their scare on, including several scare zones located throughout the park, as the ghouls are set free for their daily hunting rituals. BEWARE! There is no place to hide!

A Colourful Breath of Fresh Air

Outdoor, music and thrill seekers will find their fix at Sommet Saint-Sauveur this upcoming weekend! Amateur photographers can enjoy the colourful fall scenery, wander through the hiking trails and dance to the rhythm of live bands. In addition, family members will have a blast in the Parc FUN’s rides, go down the alpine roller coaster or aim for a birdie in the mini-golf. Exotic animal lovers can also join the F.U.N. Fest every weekend until October 29, getting up-close and personal with intriguing and charming animals, enjoy the hay maze or even ride a pony!

Day and Night at the Zoo de Granby

During the day, the Zoo de Granby in the Eastern Townships is at its most colourful! On October 7, 8 and 9, the whole family can walk along different trails divided into four continents to observe 1,500 animals representing nearly 225 exotic species and 90 marine species. Then, everyone can take a short break to enjoy the rides of the amusement park or watch one of the theme presentations held every day. As the sun sets on October 6, 7 and 8, you can discover Noctambule, the zoo’s new evening experience. There, you can learn more about the nocturnal habits of the zoo’s residents, walk through nine Asian habitats and travel back in time some 65 million years to discover a world now extinct on the Dinozoo pathway!
Visit the Zoo de Granby website for more details and the exact schedule!

It’s Open-Season for Hockey

Hockey fans spending the weekend near Rimouski can get ready to face the cold by spending a few hours at the Colisée Financière Sun Life! The Rimouski Oceanic, a team lucky enough to groom some of the greatest players to make their way to the big league, has home-ice advantage for their October 8 game and they invite all their fans to cheer the young players on in this early season game!

On October 7, the most athletic among us can take part in the Défi des couleurs Running Challenge and enjoy a run on different breathtaking trails in a mind-blowing landscape. The following morning, it’s time to grab some breakfast at the top of the mountain, where everyone can admire a magnificent view of the mountain and the Saint-Lawrence River, while enjoying a great buffet. There’s no better way to build up enough energy to go hunt for some pumpkins on the mountain!
