This fall, Coca-Cola employees from across Canada participated in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup with our partners WWF-Canada and the Vancouver Aquarium to clear litter from beaches and parks across the country.

Over the past seven years, Coca-Cola employees have rolled up their sleeves and collected over 40 tons of litter and cleaned over 200 km of shoreline! This year was no different. Teams from across Canada cleaned up local parks, and together cleared over 335 pounds of litter from shorelines across the country.

The Shoreline Cleanup is an important event. It’s not only about keeping our shorelines beautiful, it’s about keeping our water healthy. Marine litter is a critical issue that we face around the world and many different types of pollutants end up in our water. They come from dozens of different sources, but some are the cans and bottles we produce. This is an important issue for Coca-Cola and we work hard on innovations like Plant Bottle packaging, and with governments on legislation to increase recycling rates in Canada.

We recognize that there is much more work to be done but we are making progress and the Shoreline Cleanup is a great demonstration of our commitment to environmental responsibility and just one of the many ways that our company can help to address the marine litter issue in Canada.
